Don’t Defer Home Maintenance
If given the choice to go on a family vacation or to use that same money towards home maintenance, I would most likely choose the family vacation. We love the beach and there is nothing better than sipping on a Pina Colada while soaking up some sun. While family vacations are important, the cost of deferring home maintenance can be expensive, as my wife, Jenny, and I recently experienced.
Shortly after moving into our home, we noticed water damage around the living room picture window. After some investigation, we concluded that it wasn’t the window itself that was leaking, but a poorly designed gutter system above the window. Water from the second story roof was working its way behind the exterior lap siding, running down the inside wall cavity, and finally exiting through the side of the window frame. Rather than immediately dealing with the issue, we decided to monitor the situation hoping it would magically fix itself. Wishful thinking!
After waiting two years, what would have been a simple repair turned into a major project. The entire picture window had to be replaced, as did part of the roof, exterior siding and sheathing, costing thousands of dollars.
The moral of the story is to address maintenance issues sooner rather than later, or risk paying a much higher price down the road.
Client Testimonials
Testimonials are a wonderful tool I like to share with clients, to help me promote my real estate services. Prospective clients like to know that someone just like them received real benefits when they hired me as their Realtor. Below are a couple of my newest testimonials from recent clients:
I met Paul through my work at Wells Fargo and was impressed by his professionalism! When it came time for us to list our home, I gave him a call. My husband and I were retiring after long careers, and making a move out of state, all at the same time…On top of that, our house had sustained significant damage from a hail storm, so we were still working through the repairs during the sale of our house. A lot was going on! It all turned out great: We sold our house very quickly for top dollar…Paul did a superb job. He is extremely knowledgeable and collaborated with us beautifully. One of the most valuable skills Paul has is he communicates so well with all the parties involved and in a proactive manner. That helps keep things moving along, which was so important in a transaction with as much complexity as ours. I can’t thank Paul enough for doing such a great job for us!

As first time home buyers looking to move into one of the hottest neighborhoods in Denver, Wash Park, we really needed an agent who would be there to answer all of our questions and help us jump on the right home when the time was right. We appreciated Paul’s honest approach to the home selection process. We never felt like he was biased towards one home or another, but was always keeping our interests and needs in mind. We found Paul to be very helpful and always available for whatever we needed — he went above and beyond, even after we closed on the home!
