Lone Tree's Fourth goes off without a hitch — almost
Crowd filled to its 10,000-person capacity for celebration
Lone Tree’s 2015 Independence Day celebration went off — almost — without a hitch. A forecast that showed rain and potential hail headed toward the area late the afternoon of July 4 prompted a short evacuation of Sweetwater Park, but it reopened when the storm veered north.
All planned activities, including the bungee trampolines, face painting, hamster water balls, inflatable slides, food trucks, live music and fireworks continued uninterrupted.
“It was a really successful event,” said the city’s Katie Maltais, who helped market the event. “We had given out all 10,000 wristbands and it seemed like pretty much everyone showed up. We definitely had a crowd that came earlier in the day and stayed for the fireworks, so it just kept getting more and more full.”
