Here is what you will learn:
- Get to know your police officers?

- Search a building for bad guys?
- Investigate a mock crime scene?
- Learn about SWAT?See a K-9 demonstration?
- Learn how to collect finger prints?

- Learn about traffic accident investigation and DUIs?
- Learn about handcuffing techniques?And much more…
More Details:
The goals of the Citizen’s Police Academy are to foster a better understanding between the police and citizens, by providing a medium for citizens to gain insight into why police do the things they do when working the streets. Citizens will gain a better understanding of the situations police officers face on a day-to-day basis and get a chance to walk in the officers’ shoes with this interactive “hands on” approach to learning.
The Lone Tree Citizen’s Police Academy brings police officers and citizens together in three hour sessions for eight weeks. The purpose of which is to help citizens gain a greater understanding of what it is like to work as a police officer and the training that officers receive.
We are looking to host a spring 2014 Citizen’s Police Academy, beginning Thursday, April 10, 2014. Most sessions run from 6:00 to 9:00pm. There are also some Saturdays for specialized training sessions i.e. drive track, range 3000, mock crime scene, etc.
Each applicant must complete the CPA Application, pass a criminal background check and sign a release of liability prior to the start of the academy. All citizen participants must be at least 18 years of age.
